The doctors and nurse practitioners of Pediatric Associates of Richmond recommend the following regarding seasonal immunizations this fall:
Flu – all patients 6 months and older (available now)
RSV (available in October)
- All infants born April 1, 2026 or later, and whose mother did not receive the RSV vaccine while pregnant
- Children 8-19 months old who meet one of the following criteria:
- Children born preterm at less than 32 weeks’ gestation, regardless of the need for medication or other support
- Children with hemodynamically significant congenital heart disease (i.e., a defect that can result in symptoms and/or cardiac chamber dilation)
- Children with anatomic pulmonary abnormalities or neuromuscular disorders that put them at risk for severe RSV disease
- Children with Down syndrome or other chromosomal differences placing them at higher risk of severe RSV disease
COVID (available now)
- All patients 6-23 months old
- Patients 2 years and older at high risk for severe COVID (see chart below from American Academy of Pediatrics for examples)
- Any child whose parent desires to protect them against COVID infection
